So I saw this when I was in NJ a couple weeks ago. I took a picture hoping that someone could tell me what this is all about. I mean I know its a fire hydrant, but why does it have an antenna attached to it? Does it pick up radio stations? Do you know why?

Hmmmm....well, I know in California they have fake palm trees and pine trees that are actually radio towers. But I can't say I've ever seen a fire hydrant! ha!
sorry the photo is sideways....that's even weirder.
The antenna is so when the kids pop the old water plug, just for old time sake, the police can track the amount of water used.
It is for the winter time. When the hydrant gets buried the fire dept. is able to find it in 5 feet of snow.
I vote on the "so the fire Dept can find it"
